A little life update
I haven’t been here very often lately. The last few months have been filled with events that drain rather than give me energy. I am not gonna lie - my photography has suffered because of that.
I’ve been out shooting only a couple of times, and my SD card is still waiting in the camera. I didn’t even feel like uploading the photos to my computer, let alone writing.
After not posting on the blog for a long time, I checked the stats and was pleasantly surprised. It turns out that many of you keep coming back here regardless.
I wanted to thank you for spending your time reading the blog - and also let you know that I’m alive.
I hope I’ll get back to posting regularly soon.
Just so you know - things are happening, though. Below is a quick summary of the past weeks.
State of The Dutch Coast
About two months ago, I was invited to take part in this project. The regularly published “State of…” zines are a project by Amsterdam-based photographer Dennis Sewberath Misser.
Seeing a series of my images printed right next to work by five other excellent photographers is an honour and a huge distinction for me.
Exhibition
Around the same time, I was invited to present my photos in the form of an exhibition at one of The Hague’s cultural institutions.
If everything goes according to the organisers’ - and my own - vision, the exhibition will take place at the beginning of the new year. It’s a rather abstract and unexpected situation, so it’s still hard for me to say anything more about it.
Photo trips
There are some trips in the planning in upcoming months.
At the beginning of December, I’m taking a quick trip to southern Portugal. I plan to spend a few days in the car - with myself, delicious coffee, and my camera (and maybe vegan pastel de nata, if I find them there).
Beyond that, no plan, except the desire to roam all over the Algarve, up and down.
Then we’re off to Poland, but that trip is purely family-related. I’ll probably only take the camera out to document the feasts prepared by my mom.
In January, my partner and I will be making up for the failed Mallorca trip from last year (which I ended up taking alone for family reasons).
The plan is to show Lon my favourite places on the island - and maybe see and photograph something new while we’re at it.
For February, we’ve planned a slightly longer trip to Spain. No real plan here either. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for lots of Spanish sun.
I hope I’ll be able to bring back some tips and insights from each of these trips - worth writing down and publishing as blog posts.
For now, I’m giving myself some time to breathe and plenty of sleep, which I clearly need.
Take care and let’s stay in touch.
