2678
It's been 4 months since I started photographing every day. A large part of these daily photos is taken not on my regular walks in my favourite locations, but in the near neighborhood.
They’re rather the everyday moments - those in-between times between sleep, work, and sleep again - often intimate, family scenes of daily life that I share with my wife and our pets.
A significant part reflects the reality of life in a small village in the south of the Netherlands. My life. Bike rides through the area, walks with the dog, walks on my own. Glimpses in between.
As the number of photos from the neighborhood started to grow, I decided to do something with them. Hence this post.
2678 is the postal code of the village I live in - De Lier, located in South Holland, The Netherlands.
De Lier has been my home for over 10 years. Let 2678 be my thank you to a place I owe so much to.
When I started making these photographs, I wasn't trying to create a project or tell a larger story. I simply wanted to pay more attention to the place I had called home for over a decade.
Looking back, 2678 became proof that meaningful photographs don't require extraordinary locations. Sometimes they begin with the streets you walk every day.
In my complex guide to local photography, I explore how photographing your surroundings can help you develop a deeper connection with a place and turn everyday observations into meaningful long-term work.
I created a guide (well, a mini-course is a better word), which will help you make more compelling, clean pictures.
It includes a little bit of theory, example images and practical tips/exercises.
Do you want to start making minimalistic, clean images that stand out? That guide is for you. And yes, it’s FREE.
