Everything else is noise
Everything else is noise.
Voices everywhere, especially these which are not your, but still at the back of your mind, morning news on the way to work, random music from a radio, voices from the TV, from the internet, your phone’s battery level, the dopamine level in your brain, snippets of conversations in the hallway, or at lunch when you eat your sandwich straight from the production line, the click of a mouse, the hum of a computer fan, birds screaming in the morning when you don’t have time to listen to them, your own footsteps when you’re rushing and don’t know where, beeping self-checkouts, endless algorithm recommendations and short videos that say nothing but shit, repetitive streams of music, copy-paste truths, half-truths, and lies.
Noise, junk, clutter standing in the way of focusing on something else.
On the roar of the engine on an empty highway, strings of uncontrolled thoughts, talking to yourself, the neighbors’ arguments and their lovemaking moans, your own screams, moans, and sighs, the highs, the silences, singing in the shower, in the car. Uninterrupted sleep.
A simple meal made slowly and eaten in silence. The sound of your own chewing, the hiss of an opening bottle. Coffee on the balcony when everything is still asleep. Tea on the balcony when everything is already asleep.
Counting your steps and avoiding the pavement lines. The neighbors’ child laughing. An album listened to from start to finish. Or a single track on loop while you’re stuck in traffic in the middle of the day.
The same pair of shoes worn for months, until they become the second skin. A summer walk around the neighborhood, not because you can’t afford flying abroad. The same breakfast every day because you love it so much. A sweaty T-shirt after a long run.
That feeling when you scratch your back exactly where it itches.
Coins in your pocket right when you need to pay for the loo. A new book every week, the dog barking of excitement when you throw it the ball, your partner’s voice heard in half-sleep.
The world has had enough of the same content shit. Make your life a work of art that no one has ever seen yet.
